Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino 2016

Ruby-garnet Brunello with a certain finesse, dusty with cherry and anise notes. This is the sister wine to Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini's Altesino, another great example of what Montalcino is supposed to be. It's interesting—the Caparzo is just on the other side (South) of the hill from Altesino and it really shows what a different terroir can make. Angelini explains it all here in this interview. The Altesino is very forward with strong tannins and a darker color, where as the Caparzo is more, well, sensitive—which is not to say its weak. No way. It's real good. Drink now or give it another 5 to 10.
